WHAT YOU MEAN TO GOD
Do you know how much you mean to God? It is very easy to discover it. Just look at Jesus. Look at what he has done. Look at how he came into this world to live for you and to die for you. What more could God do to show how much you mean to him?
If the cross of Jesus does not prove God‘s love for you, then please explain what would. God decided to create you. God decided to send Jesus into the world to save you. Everything about your salvation originated in the mind of God. He designed it and he carried it out.
He knows all about you. He created you. When we think about the fact that we are a unique creation of God, it must dawn upon us that God designed us. And that means that we existed in his mind before we came into being. That is purpose. That is a revelation of how much we mean to him.
There are many mysteries in the Bible. There are many mysteries in the universe. There are many mysteries about God. But the greatest mystery of all is why God loves us so much. I wonder why, when we are questioning God, when we are asking questions about how he runs the universe, about the things that he allows or does, why do we never think to ask why he loves us?
What did we do to deserve the kind of kindness and compassion that we have received from the hand of God? What did we do to deserve to breathe his air, to take our next breath? The answer of course to all of these questions is nothing.
He gave his son to die for us. He loves us and invites us to love him back. He has made Christianity simple. Man has made it very difficult to understand. Man has spent time confusing people. But God did not make a relationship with him complicated. He made it simple. Because he wants to have it.
Have you considered the fact that your relationship with God means more to God than it will ever mean to you? It should certainly mean a lot to you. It should be the most important thing in your life. You should live every day of your life aware of the fact that you are a unique creation of God. He is your maker. He has the right to tell you what to do. You should be living to please him. All of these things should be true.
But no matter how close you grow to God. No matter how much you grow to appreciate who God is and what he has done for you, the relationship will never mean as much to you as it does to God.
How could it? It was his idea. He is the one who sought you. He is the one who knew that you would need a savior before you were even born. He is the one who created you for intimate fellowship with him. You were on his mind before he was on your mind.
Every day of our lives, we should strive to appreciate the love of God more. We should respect him more, we should learn to obey his commands more. We should realize that God is with us because God chooses to be with us. We should realize that everything about our lives exists because of God. Everything we have is from God. James 1:17 tells us in plain language that everything that we have comes from him, and that God does not change the way that he feels about us.
How does God feel about us? Do we really have to ask that? We should never have to ask that question. But because we are human, we sometimes do. But the answer is always right there before us. The answer is that God loves us. God has proven that he loves us. God has proven that he loves us by sending his son into the world to die for us.
So, no matter how much you grow to love God—and every day we should be striving to love God more—you should also realize this. No matter how much you appreciate God, no matter how good of a Christian you become, no matter how good you become at obeying God, you will always matter more to God than God will ever matter to you.
You will certainly grow to obey him more as you walk with him. As you learn more about him. You’ll become a better person. You will become more Christlike.
But the relationship will never mean as much to you as it does to God.
