THE WAY OF SALVATION

Jesus Christ is the way to eternal salvation in heaven. In John 14:6, he said he is the way to the Father. This is the point of the Bible. He leads us in the way that we should go. Everything about Jesus is good, and everything about us without Jesus is bad. We are lost and cannot find our way. Like sheep, we have all gone astray (Isa. 53:6). Jesus is the way.

The name God honors as far as salvation is concerned is the name of Jesus. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all...” (1 Timothy 2:5).

These verses teach us how important Jesus is. He is what the Bible and the universe are all about. All of God’s dealings with mankind are based on Jesus. They also reveal how important we are to God and how much he loves us. The person of Jesus Christ shouts God’s love for each of us. You matter. How do you know? Because of Jesus.

“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and find pasture…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:9). Notice that Jesus said if ANYONE enters by him, they WILL be saved. Not “might be” but WILL BE saved. Anyone who wants to be saved can be saved through Jesus. He is an inclusive Savior. You will never in this life realize how much he loves you.

A door serves two functions: it keeps out those who don’t belong and it lets in those who do. Jesus is the door that will get you into heaven or the door that will keep you out, depending on what you do with him. The question of what you do with Jesus is the most important question in the world.

The good news—and the gospel of Christ is good news—is that anyone who wants to come through this door may do so. It is never locked to the one who desires to be saved. Jesus told the story of the wise and foolish bridesmaids (Matt. 25:1-13). Those who played around with their salvation were locked out. But those who loved the bridegroom and were ready were allowed inside forevermore.

Anyone who wants to get in can get in. Focus on Jesus and love him. That is how you enter this door. As long as you have breath in your lungs, this door is never locked. Enter by trusting him and loving him right now.
