WALK BY FAITH

LIBERTY AND LOVE #50

The way of Christ is the way of faith. We walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). That means that we go by the things God has said rather than just what we can experience with our five senses. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Think about the things that are not seen. A spirit world of rulers and principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12), as well as a loving and concerned God who has everything under his control.

The delight of God is when we delight in God. When we trust in him enough to live our lives according to his direction, he is pleased. There is much about God that we do not understand and never will. But understanding is not required. Faith is. Who has known the mind of the Lord? His ways are past finding out” (Romans 11:33-34).

If we require God to explain his ways to us then we will be very disappointed. First, God would ask us like Job of old, to explain things to him first. God can ask us many questions that we cannot answer. And what we are supposed to learn is to trust God no matter what.

When it comes to dealing with your creator, lay aside all of your human wisdom and ingenuity and cast yourself upon the word of God and the promises of God. Believe in him and trust him. Let him direct you in all of your ways.  That is the way that is right and cannot fail. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delights in his way. Though he fall he will not be utterly cast down for the Lord upholds him with his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24).
