LOOK TO THE LORD

“I look up to the hills, but does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭1‬-‭2‬).

Following Jesus is a matter of focus and perspective. It is deciding to view life the right way and to keep God in our thoughts. The opposite of living right is, of course, living wrong. Of the wicked, the Bible says that God is in none of his thoughts (Psalm 10:4). Without Christ, we are too proud to even think about our Creator. We should be people who keep God in our minds.

We must not look for help in the things of this world. In second causes. In our own strength or ingenuity. Our only real and lasting help comes from God. When you are struggling, look to God. When you are not struggling, look to God. Keep your mind on Him so that you can rest in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3).

God promises help to His people. All we have to do is ask for it. All we have to do is have faith in God and His promises. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be distressed, for I am your God. I will give you strength. I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). Let those promises speak to you. Let the word of God minister to your heart. Believe what He says, and believe that He is talking to you.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will uphold you. He will never permit the righteous to be overcome” (Psalm 55:22). Look to God as the source of your strength and help. He is what you need. Take your burdens to Him and leave them there.

“God is our refuge and our strength. He is our constant source of help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
