WHAT ABOUT “MISSING” BOOKS OF THE BIBLE?
Some believe there are books that belong in the Bible that we do not have. The Catholics, for example, have the Apocryphal books in their Bible that we do not have in the main translations.
People often wonder about this and become very interested in it. On the surface, it is not difficult to understand why. At first thought, what if there is information in “missing” books that we need or that would alter some aspect of the Christian faith? That, however, is, in my estimation, not a good way to think about or consider the matter. Not at all.
Even if there are books left out by human error, God was the overseer of the process of preserving his word. There is absolutely nothing you need to know other than what you already have in the 27 books of the New Testament. In fact, if all you had was ONE of the four gospels, you would know more than enough to love and serve Jesus and go to heaven. So I don’t really get into all of those arguments.
When people get interested in the Book of Enoch or the Gospel of Thomas or the Apocryphal books, etc., it never seems to fail to be a distraction of the devil to keep them from focusing on Jesus Christ alone. Human curiosity will kill more than the cat. It will kill your personal relationship with Jesus.
That is why I refuse to go there in my study and teachings. And that is always what I advise others to do. Stay away from such inconsequential and distracting concerns. God either preserved his word for us in the book we know as the Bible or he did not. And if you accept who Jesus is, these things never even become a matter of concern. Christianity is about a relationship with one man and is not about any other sort of knowledge.
Focus on Jesus and what we have in the Bible, especially the New Testament. Jesus only, Jesus always. Nothing but Jesus.
