THE KINDNESS OF GOD
How precious is Your love and kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings. (Psa. 36:7)
The kindness of God is beyond measure. We will know how much we are loved when we celebrate the fact that it is God’s nature to be kind. He desires to love us and bless us. We cannot make him be that which is not his nature to be. He is kind because he is kind.
We trust in God because he is kind. The reason we can rely on him and know that we are safe and secure in his love, is because he is worthy of our trust. He wants what is best, and he knows what is best. And he has the power to work what is best. He is the most amazing thought the human brain can think. To know God is to know life. And nothing will motivate us to celebrate him, live for him and love him like meditating on his kindness and love toward us.
Humanity is not kind. We are not, by nature, of a disposition to seek the good of those who are our enemies. But God has shown his love and kindness toward us through Christ and his death on the cross. You matter and I matter to God and that is where the meaning of life is found. Drink from the fountain of God’s love every day. Do not let your focus wander from him. Keep him in your thoughts and stay motivated by what you find in his love. It is inexhaustible. You cannot sin so great that his love cannot reach you.
The goodness of God should motivate us to repentance. We are continually striving to do better, to live better, to serve God better, because we know how much we are loved. We do not fully grasp the meaning of God’s love, but we celebrate its reality and live our lives knowing that this is the truth. God is love. God is kind. We are the beneficiaries of how wonderful he is.
Let us go forth celebrating the matchless love of God, his wonderful kindness, and let us become vessels of his kindness through which humanity is touched.
